Wood & Toy on Chain Lane, Newark to close its doors in November

A toy shop is over 25 years of history in the town centre has announced that it will be closing its doors in less than a month.

In spring this year, the owner of Wood & Toys on Chain Lane, Newark, Julie Butler, had announced that the shop would be let from June 1, however, as no one came forward to take on the business, it will now be closing.

Previously, the owner said that she was going to let go of the shop after six years, to have ‘more freedom’.

The shop is now set to close its doors on Saturday (November 1), and until then, all full-price items will be 20% off.

On a paper on the window shop, Julie has thanked her customers for all their ‘support over the years’.

The shop first opened its doors in 1997, when the founder of the shop, who Julie used to work for for four years, returned from a holiday abroad with wooden toy gifts for friends and family.

Due to the popularity of the presents and requests to source similar items, the late owner decided to open the shop in the heart of town.

Until closure, the shop will continue to open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm on Monday and 9.30am to 5pm the rest of the week.
