Owner of Petit Versailles, on Stodman Street, Newark, proclaimed best dressed guest at British Business Awards




Newark business owner proclaimed ‘Best Dressed Guest’ at the British Business Awards as her outfit shone brighter than the awards.

Petit Versailles on Sotdman Street, Newark was shortlisted for the Retail Business of the Year at the British Business Awards which took place on November 14 in Central London.

Despite not having won the award, the owner of the business Hajra Kemari was the star of the night as most contestants came to congratulate her on the business and her outfit for the night

“What a fantastic night it turned out to be, we certainly took centre stage,” said Hajra.

She was also proclaimed the ‘Best Dressed Guest’ at the event, as she wore her own design, a brocade jacket in black and gold, with the intent to represent the business’s shine and glory.

The entrepreneur is known for her skills as a designer dressmaker, distinctive shop fronts and strong presence in the steampunk world.

Hajra added: “It was a nerve-racking time leading up to what was a very exciting time.

“I was so proud to be able to represent Newark in such a positive way and I am certain we have generated much interest for the town, and as a result, I couldn’t be happier.”

The shop offers a wide range of goods and services including jewellery, accessories, millinery and new and pre-loved fashion.

Working alongside her sister, Sofia, Hajra’s store provides quality alterations, design and production of bridal gowns, cosplay, steampunk and retro.

The business owner attended the event accompanied by her sisters Sofia and her older sister Nashim, who flew from Portugal to support her, and Parving and Jeffrey Mannering who represented the Newark Steampunk Society.

Petit Versailles was recognised with the highly commended award in the businessperson category at the Newark Business Awards in June this year.
