More than 500 people attended a competition and family fun day to raise money for charity on the hottest day of the year.

It’s A Knockout at the YMCA village raised nearly £7,000 to support young people in Newark.

The event — inspired by the popular Eighties TV programme — featured ten organisations competing over six games.

They competed in contests such as Slippery Summit, Medieval Madness, Hats-On, Penguin Pursuit, and Fe Fi Fo Fall.

And at the end, it was a narrow win for the YMCA.

Todd Cauthorn, executive director at YMCA Newark and Sherwood said: “The It’s A Knockout family fun day was an immensely fun day.

“Even in such heat, everyone was so enthusiastic about the competition and the fantastic cause they were fundraising for.”

Other activities on offer included fitness challenges, rowing competitions, soft archery, basketball to climbing tasters.
