The Advertiser has been bringing you all your local news and sport since 1854.

In that time, we have also played a key role for businesses to advertise their goods and services.

We have looked through our archives to see what businesses were advertising their wares in the Advertiser 100 years ago in summer 1922.

Although long gone, many of the businesses are still well known names in Newark's history.

Others occupied prime spots in Newark and surrounding areas that stand today, albeit with different uses.

Given the season, there were a lot of adverts for summer trips and activities.

The district's many clothing shops were also promoting their summer lines.
