Newark’s National Civil War Centre aiming to raise £5,000 to secure a cannon as tribute to key part Newark played in Civil Wars
On several occasions between 1643 and 1646, Newark’s guns roared their defiance to three separate Parliamentarian armies.
This was the British Civil War and Newark stood firmly for King Charles I.
And, although the war was over 375 years ago, a campaign is under way to buy a cannon for Newark.
