Plans submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council for camping and caravan site at Sutton on Trent farm

A disused agricultural field could be turned into a campsite under plans submitted to a council.

Approximately one quarter of an acre of a four-acre field at Common Farm, Ossington Lane, Sutton on Trent, is proposed to be turned into a camping and caravan site.

Plans for the site have been submitted to Newark and Sherwood District Council, which will make a decision on the application at a later date.

Five tent pitches and five caravan pitches would be available on the site, near to the existing farm buildings.

This would also see the laying of hardcore and gravel surfacing for the pitches, a toilet and shower block of wooden construction, and ten additional parking spaces on the property.

The existing field is grassed, and has not been used since 2010 — planning documents explained — with previous uses for both crop production and housing animals.
