Southwell Minster to host Newark constituency General Election debate on June 20 organised by Churches Together, featuring candidates from Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Reform UK, Independent, and Workers Party of Britain
The historic halls of Southwell Minster will play host to an election debate later this month.
Candidates for the Newark constituency have been invited to participate in the hustings event on Thursday, June 20, at 7.30pm.
The two hour debate will be chaired by Quentin Rayner, a former presenter and chief reporter on BBC East Midlands Today.
Constituents are invited to submit questions to the panel in advance of the debate, which has been organised by Churches Together.
Candidates who have confirmed they will take part in the debate include; Robert Jenrick, who is defending a majority of almost 22,000 for the Conservatives; Saj Ahmad (Labour); Adrian Amer (Independent); Robert Hall-Palmer (Reform UK); Collan Siddique (Workers Party of Britain); David Watts (Liberal Democrats).
The Green Party candidate Michael Ackroyd is unable to attend for personal reasons.
Any constituent can submit a question in advance by email to: hustings2024@gmail.com or drop their question into one of a number of mock-up ballot boxes which will be dotted around the Newark constituency.
The deadline to submit questions is 5pm, on Monday, June 17. Selected questioners will then be invited to address the candidates in person, on the night.
The UK General Election is scheduled to take place on July 4. The candidates confirmed for the Newark constituency are (listed alphabetically):
