Nottinghamshire Police carry out cannabis raid in Calverton
A couple have been arrested for cultivation and possession of cannabis, possession of Class A drug and abstracting electricity after a police raid.
Gedling’s Operation Reacher team supported by the Reacher team from Oxclose Lane executed an early morning warrant at an address in Flatts Lane, Calverton.
A number of cannabis plants were discovered in different states of growth, some packed into dog litter bags in a kitchen freezer.
A small amount of powder, suspected to be cocaine, was found alongside some pre-packed hybrid cannabis strains and edibles.
Hydroponic growing equipment was also discovered.
Officers also found hundreds of pounds of cash, mobile phones and sim cards, which were believed to be linked to drug dealing.
The property’s electricity had also been bypassed into the hallway of the communal block of flats, which was a fire hazard that could have endangered lives.
A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s were arrested at the scene.
Police say the intelligence about the property came from members of the community who were tired of drug dealing in their area.
Sergeant James Carrington, lead of the Gedling Operation Reacher team said: “As a Reacher team we are aware of the issues surrounding drug use, drug dealing and the associated criminality that goes with that in areas of Calverton.
“This was a big win for us. It is what we do best. Reacher is one of the enforcement arms of the police, doing what the community wants us to do — locking people up,
“We do not tolerate people who deal drugs in our communities and the anti-social behaviour and crime that always goes alongside it,
“It is unfair for residents to have to live next door to this behaviour and we will continue to execute these warrants to stamp it out so the people of Calverton can live in peace,
“If you have any intelligence, let us know and we will act on it.”
