Newark care home Strawberry Fields is fundraising for improvement of outdoor garden

A Newark care home is fundraising to improve the outdoor garden space for its residents.

Strawberry Fields care home activities coordinator Kirsty Richardson started a go fund me page to help fundraise £1000 to improve the care home outdoor garden.

Together with the colleagues, the care home deputy manager and care home manager, the group has raised £460 on the online page to the date.

“We are hoping to be able to raise enough money to purchase some safe and sturdy wooden furniture for our residents , some benches, plants, flowers and any other decorative items that our residents would like to see,” said Kirsty.

The care home is looking for donations on the page or of garden items in good conditions.

Homebase has donated some plants and Southwell business A&V has offered to do some work as a charitable donation.

Morrisons has donated a raffle prize for the care home Easter raffle.

She added: “The residents are at the heart of everything we do and to be able to give them the pleasure of being able to do simple things such as sitting outside and having breakfast in the sun and watching the wildlife in the garden would mean a lot to ourselves, the residents and their families.”
