Homelessness charity Framework invites public to its Caribbean Big Staycation fundraiser

Homelessness charity Framework is inviting the public to a fundraising event for all the family on Saturday, July 18 — bringing the Caribbean to people’s back (or front) gardens for a staycation to remember.

The charity is encouraging the public to create a Caribbean resort at home, have fun, and raise funds to help people who don’t have a home.

For just £10 a whole family can check in for this all-day event taking place online and in people’s homes, gardens, or on their patios and balconies.

The Big Staycation, taking place between 1pm and 8pm, offers a day full of family-oriented tropical activities including a pirate treasure hunt, a best pirate costume photo competition, a BBQ grill-off contest, prizes, and much more.

Kristen Dougherty-Leighton, Framework’s community and events fundraiser, said: "Holiday plans have been disrupted this year so we decided to create some fun and fantasy for the whole family and raise funds to support people in need at the same time.

"Framework's Big Staycation is a holiday at home to help those who don't have a home. The feedback from our successful 007-themed online event in May suggested that more family-friendly events would be welcome.

“With this Caribbean Pirate-themed staycation event we’re asking families to get together, fill the paddling pool, fire up the barbecue, make pirate ships out of boxes, hang some twinkly lights, or create whatever they love about a holiday without leaving home. And Framework’s Facebook Group page will host a range of contests and activities in which people can take part.

“Money raised will support the work done by Framework to help thousands of homeless and vulnerable people across Nottinghamshire and further afield.”

To introduce the event Framework has developed a fun video here.
