Chance to join treks to China and Nepal for Beaumond House Community Hospice
Treks to Nepal and China have been organised to raise money for Newark’s Beaumond Community Hospice.
An information evening is being held at the hospice’s offices at 131 Lime Grove, Newark, on Wednesday for anyone interested in signing up for either or both.
The first question-and-answer session starts at 7pm and will be about the Annapurna Sunrise trek, which takes place from March 27 to April 6, 2019.
Six people have already signed up and it is hoped to get a team of 12.
The trek will involve six nights of treking and four nights in hotels.
The target is to reach the top of Poon Hill (3,200m) in time to watch a stunning sunrise.
The second session starts at 8pm and will be about a new Great Wall Of China challenge, which will take place from September 28 to October 6, 2019.
Hospice fundraising and events officer Holly Fowler said they had decided to offer the challenge because they hoped it would appeal to a lot of people.
"It is so iconic and must be on so many people’s bucket list," she said.
The Annapurna Nepal trek costs £1,950 and the China challenge costs £2,050.
There are different options to pay for them. Each option needs a £350 deposit.
More information and how to apply will be available on the evening or by contacting Holly on 01636 610556.

A company that has 120 stores nationwide is helping to support Beaumond House Community Hospice, Newark.
Cardzone, a card and gift retailer that has its head office at Hexgreave Hall, Farnsfield, has given £3,000 to the hospice from money raised through the sale of 5p carrier bags.
Cardzone has become a patron of the hospice’s business club and plans to continue to offers its support.
Office manager Nina Remnant and marketing manager Alice Bartlett visited the hospice to receive a certificate recognising the company as a patron of the business club and to have a guided tour.
Nina said charity support was important to the company and they decided that the hospice should be among those to benefit.
Donations have also been made to other charities, including the Flower Pod run by Reach Learning Disability and the Children’s Bereavement Centre in Newark.
"We are very happy to support Beaumond House," said Nina.
Nina said they were impressed by how professional the hospice was and that they had made it very easy for them to make the donation.
The company received their certificate from Jo Harbord, corporate business officer at the hospice.
Jo, who headed the campaign to raise £120,000 for improvements to a children’s park in Southwell, said she was looking forward to working with businesses and encouraging them to support the hospice.
"Fundraising is so important for us to survive and to get support like this from Cardzone is amazing," she said.
Jo will be encouraging other businesses to follow the example set by Cardzone and to join the business club.
Her job will also involve getting businesses to fundraise for the hospice, consider making Beaumond House their charity of the year, and getting their support for hospice events.
