Music For All brings Learn To Play taster sessions to Newark's Buttermarket and Fiskerton's Riverside studio
Free music taster lessons are being held this weekend for those wanting to learn to play and returning musicians.
Music For All is offering free 10-15 minutes taster lessons at the Buttermarket, Newark, and Riverside studio, Fiskerton on Saturday and Sunday.
Either new or returning musicians are welcome to go along.
Several venues across the country are hosting the event and those interested in taking part in Learn To Play can select their closest venue on the map and register on the event website.
Tony Followell, Music for All’s chairman of trustees said: “Through the Learn To Play event we aim to inspire and help as many people as possible understand the unique joys and benefits of learning to play an instrument which could turn into a lifetime of enjoyment or even a new career.
"I encourage those who picked up an instrument during lockdown to come along to the event and experience a lesson for free.”
Reports have shown that music has been crucial in helping people cope with isolation ever since lockdown.
A recent government announcement revealed plans to ‘level up’ musical education opportunities for young people across the country by 2030.
“Excellent music education opens opportunities and gives children and young people an opportunity to express themselves, to explore their creativity, to work hard at something, persevere and shine.” said Music For All’s general manager Sonali Banerjee.
As part of the Learn To Play event, Music For All charity supporters and ambassadors such as Snow Patrol, Skunk Anansie and Jools Holland have Youtube tutorial lessons that can be accessed on Music for All Youtube channel.
