Channel 4 show documents ex-Newark couple's journey in running holiday home business in Lot-et-Garonne, France for A New Life in the Sun
A couple, who are originally from Newark, have been featured in a hit Channel 4 programme this week.
Kimmie and Matt Hurley starred in four episodes of A New Life in the Sun, a show documenting the lives of British people who have moved abroad.
Kimmie and Matt left Newark three years ago and invested all their money into a five-bedroom house in Lot-et-Garonne, south-west France.
The property, which the couple bought for £280,000, also came with a pool, two barns and 11 acres of land.
The programme detailed the couple's journey turning their barns into holiday home rentals for paying guests.
Kimmie, who is a fibre artist, also hoped to use the space to offer craft courses to their visitors.
In Monday's episode, viewers found out why Kimmie and Matt decided to leave Nottinghamshire and start their business, Champ Vieil.
Talking on the programme, Kimmie said: "We've got so much more for our money here, in the property itself as well as the land.
"There's just no way we could afford this in the UK."
Matt said: "The footprint of our kitchen here in France is roughly the same size as the entire footprint of our house that we left in the UK."
