Ollerton’s Tesco Book Blind Date initiative raises funds for charity and community groups

A town’s supermarket giant has raised over a thousand pounds for charity with its book blind date initiative.

Since May last year, the Tesco in Forest Road, Ollerton, has raised around £1,500 for charities and groups within the area.

The funds raised with the Book Blind Date initiative have supported a range of organisations including the town’s football team — Robin Hood Colts — towards a new kit for the junior team and recently helped buy Easter Eggs fro the Rope Project.

Each book is wrapped in brown paper, with only the genre on display and in exchange for a small donation, customers get to select a mystery book.

Each book also comes with a sweet treat and either a tea bag, a coffee or hot chocolate sachet so people can settle down to enjoy their new book.
