Home Start Newark, on Great North Road, appeals for new volunteers

A Newark charity is looking for more volunteers.

HomeStart Newark, on Great North Road, provides support for young families struggling with a range of issues, including isolation and concerns about their children.

Sara Grant, manager at HomeStart Newark, said: “We had to adapt our services during the last year, in line with restrictions. This was hard for families but we were able to continue a level of support with regular phone calls and zoom.

“We are now seeing an increase in referrals with families struggling with a range of issues as lockdown eases and we need more trained volunteers to keep up with the demand”

The charity also offers confidential befriending service to parents of children under the age of five by matching them with volunteers. Volunteers will have been parents themselves and are able to offer understanding, non-judgemental support.
