Gosia Bailey, who runs the shop alongside her husband Chris, said she was thrilled to win the award.

"I am blown away by this huge achievement. I am absolutely thrilled," she said.

"It's one of the most prestigious awards in the industry. We were just happy to be on the short list."

The awards ceremony took place at the Guildhall, London and featured some of the top names in the industry.

Guests were treated to a five course meal and were able to taste some of the winning wines.

Gosia said: "It was a big occasion. It was great to champion Southwell in London. We've had a great response.

"We want to encourage independents. To be an independent is hard and it's nice to know that someone appreciates the hard work we put in."

Gosia and Chris started the business four years ago because they wanted to share their passion for wine.
