Chesney Hawkes meets Chesney the hawk at Go Active Falconry at White Post Farm, Farnsfield
Popstar Chesney Hawkes may think he's the one and only — but on Monday he came face-to-face with another similar-sounding star.
And although the singer may have popped in to perform in his honour, Chesney the hawk could not have been less interested.
He was more keen on impressing the assembled crowd with his flying than listening to his namesake sing his biggest hit.
Chesney Hawkes visited Go Active Falconry at White Post Farm, Farnsfield, yesterday after attention was drawn to Chesney the hawk on social media.
And he was more than happy to give a rendition of his hit, The One And Only, while Chesney the hawk gave a flying display to on-watchers.
It was, human Chesney said, one his more unusual gigs.
"It was weird, but so wonderful," he said.
"I have never done anything like this before — it is the one and only time I have sang with a hawk."
Chesney called at White Post Farm as he was taking his animal-loving daughter to start her studies at St Andrew's University.
After his performance of The One And Only, Chesney finally had chance to meet Chesney hawk and helped with the falconry display before meeting his fans.
Simon Stacey, co-owner of Go Active Falconry, said he was delighted to welcome singer Chesney to meet his namesake hawk.
"It has been fantastic to have him here and for him to sing for the crowd," he said.
Go Active Falconry gives flying displays every day during the school holidays and at weekend only in term time.
