Coddington Primary School children visited by The Indian Experience who taught them of Hindu religion and culture
Schoolchildren had a visit from The Indian Experience, an educational group who taught them about Hindu religion and culture.
During the day, year four pupils at Coddington Primary School had storytelling around the Hindu festival of colours, dressed in traditional Indian clothing, participated in Indian folk and Bollywood-style dancing.
Pupils also received an insight into Hindu worship and an introduction to Hindu ceremonies and beliefs centred on births, deaths and marriages.
In their school newsletter, the pupils wrote: “Our Hindu day was the most amazing event that happened at school, we loved it.
“We made Rangoli patterns and symmetrical pictures. They were all colourful and bright.
“Also we drew henna art on hand templates, we drew flowers and patterns on them.
“Next we learnt about all the Hindu gods, our favourite was Ganesh.
“Then in the afternoon we went into the hall and dressed up in special Indian clothing.
“We were given a Bindi gem to stick on our forehead.
“In our costumes we learnt some Indian dance moves.
“We had a fantastic day.”
