Newark charity Think Children thanks supporters for donations
A children’s charity has thanked its supporters after some cash injections and donations.
Newark-based Think Children, on Northgate, has received several grants including £2,000 from the Albert Hunt Trust, £1,000 from Gay & Peter Hartley’s Hillard’s Charitable Trust, and £1,000 from the Rotary Club of Newark. The Palace Theatre also donated toy kit items to the charity’s field workers, which will be used in one-to-one emotional well-being sessions to help children build strategies to cope.
Think Children is now on Asda’s Green Token Giving Scheme. Voting ends on May 31.
The charity’s development manager Wendy Walton-Towle is retiring at the end of March. When she started in 1999, the charity was helping 130 children a year and was looking to expand the service into Nottingham city and Ashfield areas. Since then, the charity has grown considerably and provides effective early intervention across the county. Wendy helped raise the profile and increased the income for the charity considerably.
She said: “I will miss the wonderful people I have got to know over so many years, the staff, the board and our funders.”
