Edwinstowe music producer releases Christmas charity single to highlight loneliness with proceeds going to Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

A charity single has been released to highlight loneliness among older people and raise money for a charity that aims to combat it.

The single, Christmas Without You, has been written by Harry Hindley, 24, of Edwinstowe.

Proceeds will go to Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Harry, who is a producer and director at Copper Entertainment and Studios in Nottingham, released the single on Friday last week.

“This year is predicted to be the loneliest Christmas on record, with many older people spending the festive season separated from family and friends,” he said.

Harry has been involved in musical theatre in the East Midlands all his life, and has run workshops in theatre schools and primary schools all over the region. He also is a resident entertainer for Warner Leisure Hotels.

During lockdown, Harry wrote Christmas Without You to capture the feeling of loneliness through music.

It is performed by Lily-Mae Evans, with Jacob Savage at the keyboard.

Lilly-Mae, who is 14, is one of Harry’s students.

“I think one of the reasons it needs that youthful voice is that it connects to people even more,” Harry said. “She has done an amazing job.

“It is not one of those happy-clappy Christmas songs, but that was not the effect we were going for. I think everybody can relate in some way to this.”

Copper also filmed a music video about a young family telling the story of the song, which was released on its YouTube channel on Friday.

It features a young girl missing being with her Grandpa over Christmas.

Christmas Without You is available on all platforms including Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music.

It can be downloaded for 99p, but Harry hopes people will make an extra donation to the charity through justgiving.com/fundraising/christmaswithoutyou
