Newark Salvation Army Toy Run postponed due to heavy snow across Newark and Sherwood

Today’s Salvation Army Toy Run has been cancelled due to heavy snow.

Unexpected amounts of snow falling across the district over night led organisers to take the decision to cancel the event on safety grounds.

Hundreds of bikers were expected to take part in the event, to deliver donated gifts to the Salvation Army in Balderton for their annual appeal.

Organiser John Judson said he was personally very disappointed, but hoped to rearrange.

It has been suggested that the event now take place on Sunday, December 17.

If the date is confirmed, the route and timings of the toy run should remain the same.
