Newark artist Danny Robinson’s painting of Nottingham Forest’s City Ground home gets a lot of positive attention on social media
A painting of the City Ground by a Newark artist has generated a massive positive reaction from Nottingham Forest fans online.
A post containing the painting has been liked more than 1,400 times on the Official Nottingham Forest Supporters Club Facebook page – and has also generated several hundred more reactions on other social media pages.
Danny Robinson, the artist behind the popular image of the Trentside stadium, said: "I was asked to paint the commission by a local lady called Leanne as a Christmas present for her boyfriend Gary Pollard, director of local Newark business AGP Building Supplies.
"This was to be a surprise for him as he's a massive Nottingham Forest fan and she wanted to gift him something extra special."
Danny is a former haulier who worked in his family business, Dexhaul Ltd, after graduating from Lincoln Art College in the early Nineties.
He started painting bright abstract paintings during the pandemic.

"The painting took around three months to create, working it in between other commissions and art projects," said Danny.
"It was enjoyable to create and a real labour of love but it was quite the task as I'd never painted anything like it before."
Danny said he enjoyed the response he had received about the painting from people he has never met before who have reached out to him on social media to send him praise.
"I decided to have prints made of the painting and have sold around 30 of them so far," said Danny.
"Prints can be rather expensive to produce but I'm hoping in time I can bring that cost down enabling me to sell more to local fans.
"I've had enquiries from as far as Florida, from an English gentleman who now lives in the states has been a Reds fan since a kid.
"I paint in a wide verity of styles and different subjects large scale and small."
