A climate change Funeral for the Future took place in Southwell today (Saturday).
Extinction Rebellion Newark and Sherwood 'mourned the future’ with a sombre funeral procession.
It was a sombre piece of drama and chilling.
Protesters from across Newark and Sherwood met at the War Memorial on the Burgage and processed to the minster carrying a coffin to symbolise the death of planet Earth.
Mourners dressed in black and the procession marched to the beat of a drum.
They followed the coffin down King Street arriving at the minster where there was an 11-minute ‘die-in’ to signify 11 years left before it may be too late to reverse climate change.
The historic minster bells tolled for 11 minutes.
