Thousands of pounds were raised in the Newark area during Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Mornings

Thousands of pounds were raised at coffee mornings across the Advertiser area in the fight to conquer cancer.

Balderton Parish Council organised a community coffee event for Macmillan Cancer Support in the village centre.

Cakes were baked by parish councillors and the public, and there was a raffle.

Angela Degg, who is battling bowel cancer, organised her first World’s Biggest Coffee Morning at her home on Cleveland Square, Newark, and was well supported by family and friends.

Among the other events were Newark Waitrose’s now annual fundraiser and a coffee morning at the Busy Bees Nursery, Southwell.

A coffee morning and cake sale at The Gables, Claypole, on Saturday raised £1,013.

It included a raffle, auction of donations from local businesses, games with cakes as prizes, and a cake auction.

Events to raise money for Macmillan also took place recently at Newark Fire Station and Trebeck Hall, Southwell.
