Newark and Sherwood District Council alongside Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, Mansfield District Council - My Mansfield CPOs have worked to clean Eakring Road, near Sherwood Forest
Teams and volunteers have come together to tackle long-standing issues in the heart of Sherwood Forest.
This week, the teams have been working on Eakring Road, an area known for industrial-scale fly-tipping.
Newark and Sherwood Distirct Council has been working in partnership with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, Mansfield District Council - My Mansfield CPOs and waste teams to clean up the site and prevent future misuse.
So far, this week, barriers have been secured and made accessible to authorised vehicles, clearance work has begun from the road’s barrier, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust volunteers carried out litter picking on both sides, and Mansfield Distirct Council teams have cleared the Mansfield side of the barrier.
This clean-up is the result of months of work led by Newark and Sherwood Distirct Council to secure a Public Spaces Protection Order, restrict unauthorised access, and now begin restoring the area.
People can help keep the district clean by reporting fly-tips through the district council website.
