Newark in Bloom benefits from Lincolnshire Co-op Community Champions scheme

A Newark group has received nearly £800 thanks to Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Champions scheme.

More than 157,000 members contributed to the total with a donation being made each time they used their dividend card during March, April and May this year.

Money was also raised through fundraising, collection boxes, and proceeds from the sale of carrier bags.

One of the causes to have benefited from the scheme is Newark In Bloom, a group transforming public spaces.

Vivienne Hall, volunteer secretary at Newark In Bloom, said: “We’re blown away by the news of the amazing total of £794.52 raised for Newark In Bloom. After the last 15 months of lockdowns and restrictions it’s given us something really positive to look forward to.”

Danielle Budworth, senior community co-ordinator at Co-op, said: “We’re so happy that we’re able support good causes in the local area. The scheme was launched back in 2013, and it’s great to see the positive impact that it’s had on local communities in this time.”
