Chatham Court Community Hub, Newark, proves to be a valuable asset for residents
A community hub has proven to be a valuable asset for residents.
Chatham Court Community Hub, Newark, opened in August last year and has since welcomed more than 400 visitors for a range of activities, including to access local services via drop-in sessions, a gardening club, activities for children and young people and tenant-focused coffee mornings.
The hub was created as part of the Newark Safer Streets project, a partnership between the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry, Nottinghamshire Police, Newark and Sherwood District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.
District council leader David Lloyd said: “It is brilliant to see that the hub at Chatham Court is being used by so many people in the community.
“It was created with the hope of making it much easier for residents to access the support, information and services they need to improve their lives and resolve any issues they have, and I know many residents are benefitting from this.
“I’m so pleased that residents are using the hub to join together for coffee mornings and clubs. Community cohesion is so important and the hub is a fantastic way to bring everyone together.”
Regular events are often held at Chatham Court, which acts as a one- stop-shop for community services.
Residents can benefit from face-to-face contact with the district council and partner services for a range of enquiries, including housing and tenancy support and community safety concerns.
Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry said: “It is really rewarding to see the Chatham Community Hub being used so widely by local people.”
