Trent Way, Newark, raise money for defibrillator and receive donation from British Heart Foundation
Community spirit is alive and well for residents on one street where they come together for celebrations and fundraising.
The residents of Trent Way, Newark, organise a host of community events, including VE Day and jubilee celebrations, marking Remembrance Day, street parties, street bingo, and fundraising.
They are now raising money for a potentially life-saving community defibrillator.
Zoe Watson said: “We have decided to raise the funds and acquire a defibrillator mounted publicly around the Trent Way area for emergency use should this be required.
“We are looking for fundraising support for the cabinet that will be stored in and to create a weatherproof community board to share relevant information regarding the defibrillator and other events or gatherings we are holding.
“We as a community feel that this would be a great follow-on from a very difficult time and look forward to hearing from anyone interested in donating to this project."
The defibrillator, which shocks the heart of someone in cardiac arrest, will be put in the middle of Trent Way, and it is a fully automatic machine to be kept in a cabinet for easy access to the public in the estate.
The British Heart Foundation has given a £600 grant, which is half of the cost of the total amount for the defibrillator.
The group has also received £200 by a Trent Way neighbour and another £200 by an anonymous donation from a local business.
To cover the full price of the defibrillator and its cupboard, the group needs for raise £100 more.

The fundraising will continue until February.
