Rose Landscapes and other businesses build garden to support a family in Newark during their cancer battle

Businesses have come together to support a family during their cancer battle.

Jessica and Shaun Porta had been planning to improve their garden before Jessica was given a cancer diagnosis.

Instead, Rose Landscapes owners Rob Boneham and Sam James took on the project.

Backed by a GoFundMe page and donated materials, they carried out the work.

“When we heard that Jess was going to under go chemotherapy we thought it would be a nice gesture of support to say we would undertake the work free of charge,” said Sam .

The existing decking and pergola at the garden were retained and everything else was replaced.

A new patio was installed for a bar shed area as well as new paving around the rear of the house. Fake grass was put in the space and borders were planted to flank the garden and add some colour to the outdoor space.

The businesses involved in the project were Freddie Allen Gardens & Landscapes, Jamie Walton, Paul Chambers, JW Services, JL Coops and the Bathroom Boys.

Sam said: “There is no benefit to Rosa Landscapes other than knowing we had done something to benefit a family going through a hard time.

“The family will benefit from a low-maintenance space that they can enjoy together.”
