Newark Advertiser reader letters: Concentrate on local matters

Once again swathes of the district are under water, many residents are still struggling with the cost of living crisis and, in a week where temperatures have barely got above freezing, many more are struggling to heat their homes.

Yet what is our local MP’s priorities?

He has been doing the rounds in the media and on social media spewing rhetoric that would not be out of place in the Reform Party.

Perhaps if he and his party had been more vocal on the subject of child grooming gangs when they were in power and could have done something about it, his current musings would hold more weight. Unfortunately, it now appears to be more about making political gain and pandering to Elon Musk than anything else.

There may be more political gain to be had by Mr Jenrick concentrating on the matters here in his own constituency. — A. Cloke, via email.
