Concern at alleged covid case at Tarmac Newark Concrete Plant
The partner of a worker has expressed concerns over the handling of an alleged positive covid case at their workplace.
The person, who wanted to remain anonymous, questioned the safety of workers at Tarmac, on Hawton Road, Balderton, and said government rules were not being adhered to, which is something the company has refuted.
They claimed their partner had been in contact with somebody who tested positive at the site, but was told to continue to work.
"They (Tarmac) have not stuck with government guidelines and closed to allow the teams to isolate," the partner said.
"They have told them to come to work as normal."
A spokesman for Tarmac said: “While we are unable to comment on individual cases for confidentiality reasons, we can confirm that all of Tarmac’s sites continue to follow strict safety protocols regarding the management of covid-19, in accordance with government guidance.
“These protocols have been in place since March 2020 and will continue to be enforced and monitored until government recommendations outline otherwise. Ensuring the safety of our employees and all those who work alongside us remains paramount all times.”
