Coronavirus: Tuxford Academy closes with immediate effect as it cannot continue 'to operate safely' during virus pandemic

Coronavirus has forced Tuxford Academy to close with immediate effect after the school's trust decided it could not continue to operate safely.

The academy released a statement on its website on Tuesday that said its organisation, the Diverse Academies Trust, shut the doors of all of its academies because of the virus pandemic.

It said the staffing levels available to them were significantly low and the academies, which include Tuxford Primary Academy, were facing an unprecedented situation.

The academy said its main priority was to ensure during the closed period, the impact on the education of its students was as minimal as possible.

The closure will be up to and including April 3 and will continue throughout the Easter break, with the expectation to re-open on Monday, April 20.
