Newark and Sherwood District Council encourage people to evacuate Tolney Lane, Newark due to flooding concerns
Residents of a street in Newark have been encouraged to leave their homes due to concerns about potential flooding.
The notice was put out earlier to help facilitate the move more easily.
"We are now encouraging residents of Tolney Lane to evacuate," said a Newark and Sherwood District Council spokesman.
"The Environment Agency has advised that the Trent has reached 5m at Colwick and may reach as high as 5.5m.
"Similar levels in the past have forced caravans to evacuate.
"It will be much easier to do this during daylight hours so we are encouraging residents to do so now and not wait.
"We have set up a place of safety at Newark Lorry Park and are asking any Tolney Lane residents to enter this site through the Lorry Park entrance.
"Our staff are on hand to assist."
