Newark and Sherwood District Council provide residents with urgent update on flooding in the aftermath of Storm Henk in Nottinghamshire




A council has provided an urgent update on flood risks in certain areas.

Newark and Sherwood District Council have provided further up-to-date guidance.

"Although flood waters are subsiding in various locations around the district, we are now aware that there are significant flooding risks to properties as a result of rising water levels at the Torksey Gauge," said a spokesman from the council.

"The levels have reached a point at this Gauge where it is, and will, impact on our communities in the north-west of the district."

Areas affected include:

- Collingham

- Girton

- High Marnham

- Low Marnham

- Besthorpe

- Sutton-On-Trent

- Cromwell

- Spalford, Wigsley, and Harby

- North and South Clifton

"We have a place of safety at Newark Leisure Centre, Lord Hawke Way, Newark NG24 4FH – please just turn up there if you need to," said the spokesman.
