Ms Wood was fined £500 with a victim surcharge of £200, and the district council was awarded £542 towards investigation and prosecution costs.

A district council spokesperson said: “It is an offence without reasonable excuse, to fail to provide assistance to an authorised person in exercise of their duties.

“We take environmental offences incredibly seriously and we will take decisive action to ensure the contained protection of our environment.”
