Newark Town Council planning committee supportive of plans for 12 industrial units at Jessops Close, within the Newark Industrial Estate area
A council’s committee has said it would ‘welcome’ solar panels within a proposal to build a dozen new units on an industrial estate.
ADSDF Architects, on behalf of Mr Chris Coen, submitted a planning application to build 12 commercial industrial units, with associated parking, at Jessops Close on Newark Industrial Estate.
Newark Town Council planning committee presented no objection to the application, and discussed the plans at their meeting on Wednesday (March 5).
The proposal also includes solar panels to provide sustainable energy to the units, which the councils said they would welcome.
The council also supported the comments of the Environmental Services as to gas protection, which stated that the same level of ground gas protection is incorporated as for the previous application, and should be verified by a suitably qualified independent consultant.
Barbara Corrigan said: “Assuming I was reading the diagram correctly, the transport analysis, the sweeps and everything looked okay for the size of a mini lorry or oversized van and I thought that the units themselves looked fairly standard small scale industrial unit.”
The Council added that they would welcome consideration of some green landscaping within the site.
The proposed units will be split across two blocks, made up of black bricks and black metal cladding, with a central courtyard for vehicle parking and bike storage — there will also be bin storage on site.
Each unit is approximately 90 sq metres, with the option of a mezzanine that is 62 sqr metres, with an overall site area of 3,178 sq metres.
Newark and Sherwood District Council will make a decision on the application at a later date.
