A couple due to climb the largest mountain in Africa next week has raised over £20,000 for charity.

Next week, the couple will fly to Africa to attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, which they are aiming to complete in a week.

Paddy said: “We have never done anything like this before so we have a combination of excitement and nerves as we finish final preparations.

“As a result of a friend’s mum passing away and the family getting support from the hospice, I decided to make that the centre of our charitable efforts this year. It is a truly wonderful organisation which has a team of fabulous staff.”

Paddy has recently become a trustee for Beaumond House and his wife has also chosen the charity as one of her charities for next year.

Last summer, the duo climbed the Three National Peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

They started in Scotland, down to Cumbria and ended in Wales.

As part of their three treks challenge, they also completed the three Yorkshire Peaks challenge of 26 miles in a day last summer.

They have set up a JustGiving page which has raised over £4,000 of a £5,000 target.

People can donate to the page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/paddy-whur-2023-24-treks.

As the owner of Woods Whur, Paddy has organised charity golf days and other events to raise money for the charities, which has resulted in raising over £20,000 in total.
