The case for and against re-opening Newark's Corn Exchange was made at a licensing hearing today




A return to 'Crime and Diva' is not planned, wanted or envisioned said the applicant behind proposals to bring Newark's Corn Exchange back into use.

A licensing panel of Newark and Sherwood district councillors has gone away to consider its verdict on the proposals with the applicant needing to overcome objections of police, environmental health and local residents opposed to the opening of part of the Corn Exchange until 4.30am at weekends.

They have been asked to agree to alcohol being served from Monday to Wednesday, 8am to 2am; Thursdays and Sundays, 8am to 3am; and Friday and Saturdays, 8am to 4am.
