Nottinghamshire County Council confirms date for Newark West by-election as July 3




The date of an upcoming Nottinghamshire County Council by-election in Newark has been confirmed.

It has been confirmed that the Newark West by-election will take place on Thursday, July 3.

The by-election was triggered following the resignation of newly-elected Reform councillor, Desmond Clarke, less than a week after taking up the position.

So far, four political parties have declared candidates to contest the division; with Keith Girling, for Local Conservatives, Caroline Hinds for Reform UK, Paul Taylor for the Labour Party, and Matthew Spoors as the Green Party candidate.

The by-election will be administered by Newark and Sherwood District Council, and polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm, on July 3.

Residents of Newark West have until June 17 to register to vote, if they have not already done so. Postal votes must be submitted by 5pm on June 18.

Anyone intending to stand as a candidate must complete and submit a nomination paper, and any other relevant forms, by 4pm on June 6.
