Decision sparks development fears

There are fears that a decision to allow four houses to be built on a site in Southwell could open the door for future developments outside the boundary of the town.

The town council's planning committee yesterday raised concerns about a decision by the Planning Inspectorate to uphold an appeal for an outline application at the back of 49 Fiskerton Road.

The chairman, Mr Brendan Haigh, said other sites which were outside the town boundary but deemed suitable for potential development by the district council had been noted by the planning inspector.

He feared this could open the door for future developments outside the boundary.
