Deer taking a dip in Balderton Lake captured on camera

A regular walk around Balderton Lake turned into a special event for a photographer when he saw a deer swimming across it.

Dave Stonebridge, of Manners Road, Balderton, was taking his usual daily lockdown exercise one morning when he saw the roe deer in the water.

“At first we thought it may be in trouble but it just swam around, went to the edge, got out and ran off,” he said.

Dave said he had since discovered that deer were strong swimmers.

“I had seen it in the fields before but never in the lake. I was amazed,” he said. “It came towards us and then turned and swam away.”

Dave, a keen photographer, said he always took his camera with him on walks, and so was able to capture the deer in and out of the water.
