Reader's letter: Definition of road repairs questioned

I think Nottinghamshire County Council really needs to get a new dictionary in light of the article County’s Pothole Repairs Revealed (Advertiser, October 28) where it was stated that 476,043 pot holes had been repaired in Newark and Sherwood since 2016.

Now the word repair means to restore to original state and serviceability, which, for the most part, is not what has been done.

What the council should say is at best “patched” which means a temporary repair that will not last and will need repairing in the near future.
