Delivery drivers assaulted and have van smashed during robbery in Boughton

Two delivery drivers were assaulted and had their van smashed during a robbery.

The drivers were taking a break from delivering groceries when they were approached on Stepnall Heights, Boughton.

After asking for a cigarette, it is reported two men smashed the passenger and driver side windows, dragged two people out of the van and assaulted them.

They remain in custody.

The victims attended hospital for treatment of injuries, but they are believed to be recovering.

Two men, aged 25 and 27, have since been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident, which happened at 5.40pm on Thursday, December 23, 2021.

Detective Inspector Stuart Temple, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Since the incident was reported to us, we have been conducting numerous inquiries to understand what happened and gather information.

“We have now arrested two suspects in relation to the offence and they remain in custody for questioning.

“This incident was very distressing for the delivery drivers. They were simply doing their job and to face this whilst taking a break is absolutely unacceptable.

“We are now pleased to have made these arrests and we hope this offers re-assurance to people of just how committed and relentless our teams are in their investigation of reports.

“Our investigation remains ongoing.”
