Newark-based design studio KYAK works on British Sailing Team project for Paris Olympics

A design company is backing British sailors’ bid for glory in the Paris Olympics — and taking a taste of Newark to the games.

Newark may not be the first place that springs to mind when it comes to the Olympics and the British Sailing Team — but KYAK Studio has linked the three.

The Newark-based studio, together with designer Paul Andrew, has designed a brand identity for the British Sailing Team to promote the sailors and their bid for glory at the upcoming Paris Games, which begins in July.

The firm created an identity featuring the natural elements the team will be competing in to meet the brief — and Paul brought them together in the shape of the Eiffel Tower.

Look closely enough and you can see a little sailboat in the centre too.

As the excitement for the games grows, KYAK is producing a range of items for the sailing team and its parent organisation, the Royal Yachting Association.

From bunting to posters, exhibition panels to social media graphics and animations to pin badges, KYAK is playing its part on the international stage and waving the flag for Newark.

KYAK founder and creative director Rob Page said: “We’re extremely proud to be working once again with the British Sailing Team after creating a successful campaign for the Tokyo Olympics.

“Playing a small part to help the team sail to success in Marseille feels like we’ll be standing on top of the podium with them — admittedly without the same amount of physical effort, thankfully.”
