Different rules

By NewarkAdvertiser Reporter

I parked my car displaying my Blue Badge, which I thought, wrongly as it turns out, allowed me to park in a permit-only bay on Castlegate, Newark.

The bay was totally empty.

I was doing banking, which took me about an hour, and I could quite legally have parked on double yellow lines, but I thought that inconsiderate in light of all the disruption.

Next week, parked in the same place, was a Nottinghamshire County Council van.

One rule for the public who spend money in Newark and another for the council.

Suffice to say I will stick to Lincoln, where I live, for shopping and banking in future.

Traders must love the assistance they get from the council. — Sue Turnbull, Nettleham (Full address supplied).
