Plans submitted by Tritax Acquisition 39 Ltd and Simons Developments for distribution centre on the edge of Newark

Outline planning approval for a distribution centre complex, which could bring 400 to 500 jobs when complete, is being sought for farm fields on the edge of Newark.

Construction of the complex to serve what is known as the Big Box sector — distribution centres serving the likes of Curry’s, Amazon, Pretty Little Thing, Asos and Wayfair — would cost an estimated £30m.

Documents supporting the application say there would be a maximum 37,000sq metre floorspace and, as well as the jobs created directly, additional ones would be available during construction.
