Body recovered from River Trent at Radcliffe by Nottinghamshire dive team and firefighters

A body was recovered from the River Trent this morning following a call from a member of the public who spotted something in the water.

Nottinghamshire Police's dive team was called at around 11am on Monday, February 22, following a report of concern for the safety of a person in the water near Radcliffe.

The dive team and Nottinghamshire firefighters were able to recover a man's body.

The investigation is ongoing and a cordon has been in place.

The man's death is currently being treated as unexplained and he hasn't been formally identified.

Inspector Ben Lawrence, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our thoughts are with this man's family and friends at this sad time. We are working hard to understand the full circumstances and officers will remain in the area for some time while they carry out their inquiries.

“We are keeping an open mind as we continue to progress with our investigation and I would urge anyone with information about the incident to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 199 of February 22.”
