B&Q on Maltings Retail Park, Northgate, Newark gives vouchers to first clients today
A DIY store was officially inaugurated by the town mayor this morning.
The B&Q store, on Maltings Retail Park, Northgate, Newark opened today at 7am.
The first customer had been waiting outside since 4.40am.
The town mayor, Laurence Goff inaugurated the shop early this morning.
The mayor said: “It was a pleasure to join the B&Q Newark store team today. I’m happy to be here, everyone is very friendly and helpful!
“It’s so good to see B&Q up and running again, drawing people in the town centre. The store has a lot of selection, all in one location, it’s very good for the town.
“I look forward to seeing how it supports many members of the community with their home improvement needs.”
The store created 28 jobs to provide the tools and knowledge for décor refreshes, renovations, home improvement projects and kitchen and bathroom installations.
It features Valspar paint mixing service, gardening, lightning, electrical, storage, hardware, plumbing and building departments.
Unit manager Troy Carringston said: “It’s an absolute excitement, it’s fantastic. I think that if you see how enthusiastic customers were, the first one was here at 4.40 this morning, it only tells how successful B&Q is going to be in Newark.
“We are the only retailer in Newark that does everything for your project under one roof, either that’s tilling, light bulbs, flooring, kitchen, paint, we do it all.”
B&Q Newark welcomes customers to join the TradePoint scheme which includes a free membership and exclusive discounts available to trade professionals – from builders to decorators, kitchen and bathroom fitters.
