Southwell Rotary Club donates medical kits to Southwell Community First Responders
A donation has helped a growing team of first responders be equipped to respond to medical emergencies in their community.
Southwell Rotary Club has supported Southwell Community First Responders with a donation of medical equipment kits
The growing team of volunteers attend call-outs for medical emergencies in the community, and are trained and controlled by the East Midlands Ambulance Service to provide a rapid response capability to appropriate medical emergencies prior to the arrival of the ambulance crew.
The donated kits contain a range of medical equipment including blood pressure monitors, oxygen cylinders and automated defibrillators.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like the Rotary Club each of the volunteers, who give their time freely on an on-call rota system, now have their own kit.
First responders John, Mike, Malcolm, Olly, and Kate were presented the kits by President of Southwell Rotary, William Brown MBE, and other members of the club.
William added: “Rotary in Southwell is a small club, always looking for new members, that enable other volunteers to achieve their goals. The team of community responders who serve Southwell and the surrounding villages should be congratulated on their commitment and service to the community which are also fundamental ideals of Rotary.
“We are pleased to support their activities and to publicise their life-saving service.”
Southwell resident Margaret Bagguley, whose donation assisted the rotary club to buy the equipment, also attended the presentation.
Margaret said: “I am pleased to help acquire this equipment which will be used locally and thank all the First Responders for their time and effort helping our community and saving lives.”
