David Wilson Homes donates hats and arts supplies to John Hunt Primary Academy, Balderton, to raise awareness for Brain Tumour Research

A housebuilder has donated 25 children's hard hats to a primary school to help raise awareness for Brain Tumour Research.

David Wilson Homes donated the hats and art supplies for pupils at John Hunt Primary Academy, Balderton, to decorate and wear in recognition of Wear A Hat Day on March 31.

The annual campaign, organised by Brain Tumour Research, raises money for the organisation as well as awareness for the disease.

In addition to the sponsored activity, David Wilson Homes donated £200 to the research organisation.

Lisa Devlin, assistant head, said: “We would like to thank David Wilson Homes for asking us to take part in this event. The children thoroughly enjoyed getting creative for such a worthwhile cause, producing some fantastic designs.”

Later this year, Brain Tumour Research is launching a new research centre and the funds raised from the annual campaign will help cover its maintenance costs.

John Reddington, managing director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “With brain tumours killing more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, we are delighted to help bring further awareness of this fantastic charity.

“As a leading homebuilder, we aim to engage with and support local communities and charities as much as possible, and we hope this activity has allowed the pupils at John Hunt Primary Academy to have fun while raising awareness for a valuable cause.”
